Many people in our congregation and community have questions or concerns about memory and brain changes—whether they are caring for a loved one or noticing changes in themselves. These experiences can be confusing, raise questions, and bring uncertainty, worry, and a need for clear, trustworthy information.
On Sunday, March 8, we invite families, older adults, caregivers, church members, and community members to gather for a practical conversation about understanding dementia, obtaining a diagnosis, finding support and connecting with people living with dementia. This interactive two-hour workshop will provide guidance, answer questions, and share practical ways to support and connect with people living with dementia.
UVA Geriatrician Dr. Justin Mutter will discuss dementia symptoms, diagnosis, and available services and community resources. Dementia specialists Marion Kyner and Missy Harden will share hands-on, person-centered strategies for supporting and communicating in positive, compassionate, and loving ways.
No one should have to travel this journey alone. We gather in the spirit of faith and compassion—trusting that God meets us with wisdom, grace, and love as we walk together.
A light lunch will be provided following the 11:00am worship service before the workshop begins.
