Social Activities
Many social Social/community events take place throughout the year such as our Annual Ice Cream Social, Fall Festival, Book Fair, Community Service Project and Spring Fling. These events and others help create a strong sense of community and connection outside the preschool day.
Extracurricular/Extended Programs
We offer an extended program with our Lunch Bunch and Enrichment Class programs. We also offer two weeks of Summer Camp at the end of each school year which ends in late May (all extended day programs are contingent upon availability and other possible student requirements.)
Field Trips
Many classes take field trips throughout the course of the school year to such places as apple orchards, libraries, farms and Wildrock Nature Playscape. Parent participation in these special trips is encouraged.
Play-based, Research Supported Curriculum
Our school embraces play-based learning as the best tool for helping to prepare children for essential 21st century learning skills. These include collaboration, communication, critical thinking, creativity and confidence along with social/emotional development, language and math development. Teachers incorporate both child-directed and teacher-guided play in their curriculum.
Child-directed play focuses on social/emotional development, creativity and sensory play and teacher-guided play includes inquiry play, collaboratively designed play, playful learning, and learning through games. All are important aspects of a well-rounded and developmentally appropriate program.
Nature Playscape
Multiple outdoor play spaces including an enclosed playground with climbing equipment, an enclosed courtyard with playscape elements, a large field w/picnic tables and gazebo.
We are also introducing a newly developing Nature Playscape on our campus that will allow for more child-led, creative play. This new space will be ready with a few elements to start exploring with our 2024-25 school year!
