Shelby was born in the Pacific Northwest and raised in a Methodist pastor’s family. Growing up in a Christian home provided a foundation of knowledge, but motherhood challenged my ideas of what loving others should look like. It also introduced me to the blessings of working with children. Young children remind us to be present in this moment and notice our own perspective.

Over the past 15 years, there have been various opportunities for me to engage with little ones. I have led child care programs for women’s bible studies, taught school-age homeschool children for a large bible study program, sat on the board for several years, facilitated women’s bible studies.

As a family, we adventure outside. We enjoy hiking, rafting, paddle boards, and skiing. We typically visit Colorado once a year to be outside in a big way, whether on the river in the summer, or skiing in the winter. Our children also participate in various sports reaching into many circles of friends. These experiences bring us closer together and allow God’s creation to show us His majesty.
