Doug Starns
(2028)
Doug was raised in the Methodist faith, and his wife Deborah, in the Presbyterian faith. After attending a Methodist church for ten years, the family of 6 attended First Presbyterian Church on a trial basis. Doug and Deborah felt more connected with the congregation. The children’s program was quite active, which better suited their four daughters. After a brief period, the family joined the church, in the mid-90’s.
What is God doing in my life?
I feel I am at a point where my faith in God needs to be elevated through more service and commitment. I feel this most when I attend worship services, especially following one of Dave Forney’s inspiring messages. I served in the Diaconate 15 years ago and felt closer to God and our church, through service. I believe I will grow as a Christian by serving the First Presbyterian family as a church officer.
What excites me about being a church officer?
I look forward to serving a more active role in the church family, allowing me to become acquainted with more members and more knowledgeable of church polity.
